boat house. calas de guisando. avila

the boat house is an architectural project that combines contemporary design, sustainable materials, and harmonious integration with the natural environment. the structure utilizes a laminated wood frame, which optimizes both the project’s thermal efficiency and sustainability.

the construction process reveals a lightweight yet sturdy structural system, with strategically placed metal bracing to ensure stability. the sloped roof frames the landscape, allowing for a fluid interaction between the interior and exterior.

the final finish stands out for its cladding of charred wood slats using the japanese shou sugi ban technique, which gives it a distinctive character and a high level of durability. This matte black cladding creates an elegant and understated volume, in dialogue with the light and shadows cast upon the surroundings.

the interior spaces feel minimalist and well-lit, thanks to strategically placed openings. the boat house presents itself as an architectural proposal that reinterprets traditional materials with an innovative and sustainable vision.
